State Representative Pam Byrnes
Pam is serving in her second term in the Michigan House of Representatives. Following a career as a Family Law Attorney for over 25 years, Pam was first elected to the Michigan House in 2004. Prior to her election, Pam served as the first woman Washtenaw County Road Commissioner. She also previously served as the Washtenaw County Friend of the Court, has served on numerous Community Boards and even worked for the NSA, National Security Agency, where she translated Japanese during the 'cold war'.
In 2006, as the Democrats gained the majority in the Michigan House, Pam became a part of the Leadership Team and was elected Associate Speaker Pro Tempore, appointed to the Appropriations Committee where she is the Chair of the Higher Education Subcommittee, the Majority Vice-Chair of teh Community Health Subcommittee and the Judiciary Appropriations Subcommittee, and a member of the Transportation Subcommittee. She has received recently from the Michigan State Extension Service its Distinguished Key Partner Award and the distinguished Service to the Government award from the Washtenaw County Home Builders Association.
